1945. A New Enslavement
Commissioned by the Kraków branch of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), we produced a 40-second animated spot marking the anniversary of the Red Army's entry into Kraków. The animation recalls the true meaning of those events...
– In the hundred years since Poland regained independence, we have had only fifty years of freedom and as many as fifty years of subjugation, which began in 1939 with the German and Soviet attack on Poland. In 1944-1945 our country, its territory and its people became the object of renewed aggression by the Soviet Union. The advancing Red Army was an instrument of Poland's subjugation. The first free elections on our territory were not held until 1991 – recalled Dr Maciej Korkuć, head of the Branch Office for Commemorating Struggle and Martyrdom of the IPN in Kraków.
The short educational film was presented on 18 January 2018 at a press conference of the IPN Kraków branch, and then shared on the branch's Facebook page. Within the first 24 hours it was viewed by more than 15,000 people.
