Coming soon – changes to e-commerce law

13 June 2014 is the deadline set for EU member states (including Poland) to adopt and publish the implementing provisions transposing Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2011 on consumer rights, amending Council Directive 93/13/EEC and Directive 1999/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council and repealing Council Directive 85/577/EEC and Directive 97/7/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council. These are changes to e-commerce law in the broad sense, to be implemented by passing a new Consumer Rights Act. The consequences will include amendments to certain acts (e.g. the Civil Code) as well as the repeal of other acts in their entirety (e.g. the Act of 2 March 2000 on the protection of certain consumer rights and on liability for damage caused by a dangerous product, and the Act of 27 July 2002 on specific terms of consumer sale).
