Quick.Cart EXT too expensive? Suggest a solution.

Until recently, the free version of Quick.Cart, which let you set up a simple online shop quickly, had many fans. The paid EXT version (PLN 899 net) offered many improvements, but users obtained some of them in the free version by paying developers to modify the script.

All this made sense until modifying the free version started to cost almost as much as the paid version. Why?

  • With Quick.Cart EXT version 6.0 and above, add-ons could be installed easily and automatically – about 5 minutes of a webmaster's time. With the free version you first had to find a solution, and even if one was ready-made (e.g. from Quick.Tools.Factory), manual installation took time – in other words, paid developer hours.
  • In addition, the paid version always came with support and a warranty, while the free one did not – any failure caused by a user tampering with the code, even unintentionally, ended in a paid service call.

The time spent on modifications, installing free add-ons, adapting them or building them from scratch all generated costs. Not at the outset and not all at once, of course – users arrived at the idea of expanding their site gradually, but never worked out that it would have been better to choose a paid licence from the start and have peace of mind. Perhaps they did not want to risk spending that much before making sure their online business would succeed and grow.

Nobody should be blamed for being cautious – it is often a virtue. However, over-investing by excessively extending the free version is not. To find a convenient solution for those who are tight-fisted when starting an online business, or simply lack the funds to grow, we want to open up new horizons. We plan to create a solution that allows anyone starting an online business to use OpenSolution's full, licensed, simple yet professional tools.

That is why we have prepared a short poll that may show us which solution would satisfy such customers. Please take a look at the poll below and choose the option you would use if it were available.
