Training in building accessible websites to the WCAG 2.0 standard

Web accessibility for everyone is an increasingly important topic. The internet is used by blind and deaf people and by people with intellectual disabilities. More than 90% of websites in Poland are not adapted for people with disabilities. As OpenSolution partners, we decided to take part in a training course at the Widzialni Foundation in Częstochowa to gain the knowledge and skills needed to build barrier-free websites for people with disabilities.

Websites for people with disabilities are not just a matter of design or programming. They are also about creating and editing readable content: using markup correctly when editing content, and formatting it properly so that screen readers do not skip it simply because it was entered incorrectly. What does this mean? Among other things, that it is not only the webmaster who should follow WCAG 2.0 guidelines, but every administrator or editor of websites aimed at a wide audience – an audience that includes people with disabilities.
